The Week Eighteen Weigh In

Good news! Fate has smiled upon me and returned me to 108.5 -- a 2 pound loss for the week and another visit to the single digits in the Two Hundreds. That's the good part of having low expectations -- when things turn out better than expected you're pleasantly surprised.

It's not that I didn't think I did a good job this past week, because I did. I limited my weekend excesses to one day, I really watched portion sizes and made some conscious efforts at supper time to not go for seconds and found out I could be satisfied with one serving. I didn't do quite as much P1lates as I wanted to (three days instead of five), but I at least tried the harder tape this week, which is progress.

My low expectations were really about switching medicines, and so far I've been pleasantly surprised. While I'm experiencing a little more morning bloat than what I was used to, I've tried to work with that by drinking more water and trying to limit my salt intake. So far, I think the new pills are doing what I hoped they would -- give me an equivalent of what I was taking before but a smaller dose and in one pill instead of two different ones.

It feels so good to feel like I'm succeeding. I feel like I'm writing an acceptance speech and trying to remember to thank everyone. I want to make sure I credit my increased light therapy, because I know my moods have been better and I'm less lethargic and carb craving than I was last winter at this time. I'm pretty sure my commitment to this blog has helped a lot, too. It's forced me to express what I'm going through, to face my feelings and get over them instead of stuffing them down with food. And it sure doesn't hurt to have my new blogging friends supporting me as I go through this.

Well, the orchestra's starting to play over my thank you speech (actually, it's my daughter asking me to get her lunch), so I guess I better wrap things up. This morning I got a major workout shoveling snow in front and in back of my house, which will hopefully help me burn off the egg and sausage burrito my husband made me for breakfast. It sure was good, though. I hope everyone has a good weekend, and those of you on the East Coast -- stay warm!
