The Week 22 Weigh In

Holy crap!

I had to get on the scale twice to make sure 1) the batteries in the scale weren't going bad on me and 2) I wasn't hallucinating.

What the heck is 206.5 doing on the screen?? That's a 4.5 pound drop from last week!

But I'm aware of what's going on. Last week I was definitely retaining water. This week I'm probably a little dehydrated from being sick and the decongestants I've been on. So I'm guessing my real weight is more likely around 207-208. But I ain't complaining a bit about seeing 206.5!

I was definitely curious about today's weigh in, because last evening I was absolutely ravenous as I waited for dinner to be done. I mean, I wasn't just hungry. It felt almost animal the way my body was craving food (which is probably what real hunger is supposed to feel like; duh, Andrea!). And I know it wasn't emotional and compulsive hunger, because once I got some food in me I filled up quickly and wasn't driven to overeat and binge. My belly was full, I was happy and content, and I was fine the rest of the night.

I wondered if that high-grade hunger was evidence that I'm really burning up a lot of calories right now fighting off this infection, and I was curious if it would show up on the scale. Maybe it did. But I wouldn't be surprised if next week I stay the same or even creep up a tiny bit. That's the way these things work.

The good news is, I can officially proclaim that I've lost more than 130 pounds! Like Grumpy Chair commented, I've lost an entire thin person! I'm not sure where she went, but I have to say I don't miss her very much.

On a serious note, I found out today a friend of mine has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. She sent me a letter that was pretty honest in what she's facing, but she's taking a positive attitude and striving to survive as long and as well as she can. Kim's a great lady with a wonderfully wacky sense of humor, and if you wish, please put her in your thoughts and/or prayers as she fights this huge battle. I just wish I could do more.

Congratulations on losing a whole thin person -- funny isn't it to think that she was riding on your back all that time (at least that's what I used to think when I had lost 120!)? :-) And congrats on your loss this week...I wish I had had a similar situation with my sickness this week!! Go calories, fight that infection! :-)
